Great Adventures | My Creative Scrapbook

Hey there! I'm sharing a new layout and process video for My Creative Scrapbook today, using another one of my Cruise photos from ages ago that I never quite managed to get through! (In case you missed it, the reveal can be found here.)

This polka dot paper is pretty bold because it is so colourful, but I really wanted it to be a background.  Since my photo has mostly neutrals in it, it really helps keep things from being overwhelming

I tried  a few colours of matts for my page, but the green really made my photo pop!

I love this frame from Becky Higgins and knew that it would help bring interest to my photo and create a perfect title.

Layering cut apart cards, with stickers, chipboard and flair give my page great dimension!

Do you layer stickers?  I love this trick and often add in dimensional adhesive for extra pop!

I trimmed this arrow from a larger sticker, that felt awkward to me and used it to document the date of this photo, with my One Canoe Two date stamp.

This little post card was cut from a patterned paper to become a perfect spot to add my journalling.

You can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: (From the Kit) Echo Park "Go See Explore" patterned papers {You got a Postcard, You are my world} and chipboard elements; PhotoPlay "Boarding Pass" patterned papers {Ticket to Fly and Jet Set} and element stickers; Becky Higgins "Explore" chipboard frames and flair.  (From my stash) One Canoe Two date stamp; Stazon black ink;crochet thread.

Adorbs | Stuck?! Sketches

Hey there!  I am sharing a new sketch, layout and a process video for Stuck?! Sketches' August 15th challenge today!

Here is a look at my sketch:

And this is my take on it, I had a lot of fun with  the diagonal design!

I love this photo of my son and his fiance, they are all glammed up for a friends wedding!  I thought the Posh collection from Simple Stories would suit the photo nicely, even those the blues didn't quite match.

I opted to use two patterned papers of the same colours for my background, I love the tone on tone look!

I created this cut file for this layout (spoiler alert - I will be sharing it here on my blog on the 21st of this month) I love the way it reinforces my design! I used mainly small pieces of patterned papers from cut apart cards and a bit of vellum to back the cut file with.

I struggled a little bit with embellishing this page, mainly because I wanted to use up as many goodies from this collection as I could.

But I do like the way it all came together in the end!

We have two amazing and super supportive sponsors this month over at Stuck?! Sketches

You can see my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: Simple Stories Posh patterned paper, chipboard, clear stickers, cardstock stickers, bits and pieces, bradz and epoxy clips; misc. doily; American Crafts cardstock; die cut by me.

Sharing a Sketch | Heather's CraftyLife

Hey there!  One of the best things about scrapbooking for me has been the vast number of friends that I have made, whom I would never have met otherwise.  Lot's of these crafty friends I have met in person and some I have only "met" online. A fairly recent friend is Heather of Heather's CraftyLife, she is a super fun You-Tuber and posts loads of inspiring videos. Today she is live streaming (which sounds super intimidated to me BTW) and has asked me to share a sketch with her so she could run a challenge on her channel.

Here is the sketch...

Pop on over to Heather's You-tube channel and watch her live stream to find out how you can play along!

Adventure Apprehension | My Creative Scrapbook

Hi there!

I am sharing another layout and process video, created using the August main kit fromMy Creative Scrapbook.  I gave myself many challenges for this kit, in my last layout I challenged myself to use a large photo, for today's page I am using some older photos from a cruise we took.  I ran out of steam for the album, I think in part because I used the same collection for what I had competed thus far in the album.  Using new goodies made it exciting again!  The second challenge to myself was to use the large cut apart sheet, as I often opt for the "B" side of these types of papers.

Even though, these aren't your typical cute cruise pics, I really wanted to document this story.  Our youngest was decidedly nervous when it came time to board the ship!  I managed to capture his emotions fairly well in these photos.

As you can see I used one of the 2x12 cut apart pieces on my page, including it as part of my title.  I used my Silhouette to cut out the second half of my title.

Because this design is a little out of my norm, it felt a little awkward and the title seemed overwhelming.  So I wrapped embellishments all around my photos to ensure that is where the focus went.

I used lots of the Echo Park "Boarding Pass" goodies to create some clusters and layers.

My journalling could have been a little tidier but I am glad that I captured the story.

You can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: (From the Kit) Echo Park "Go See Explore" patterned papers {Let's Fly Away, Border Strips, You Got a Postcard, Let's Pack and Go}, sticker elements and chipboard elements;.  (From my stash) crochet thread, Sharpie pen.

Travel the World | My Creative Scrapbook

Hey there!

I am a little later popping in today because I decided to switch things around on my blog this morning.  It has been super quiet here because life has been busy, but I really wanted to share this page - so I made some time!

I created this page using the main kit for August from My Creative Scrapbook, which has a fun travel theme.  We do not actually vacation a ton, but I still had pics left to scrap from a cruise we took several years ago, plus we also recently went to Disney and we live by a lake so this kit is perfect for all of that, too!

Today's page feature a photo of our cruise ship, I think this page would make an excellent cover page for the album from that trip!

I was really inspired by the Heidi Swapp stencil that was included in the kit, and wanted to create a soft stenciled effect on my background.

I kept my patterns to a minimum, using only two and one is my background.  However, the stenciling acts almost as a third pattern.

I combined a couple of stickers to create my title; trimming the words "the world" from a larger sticker.

I really love the positioning of my title and that it allowed for room to nestle my journalling right below it.

Of course, this chipboard ship needed to make it onto this page!

The flag banner also inspired this page, creating the colour palette and the light and airy look.  I really wanted the flags to look as if they were blowing in the breeze!

Final steps included a sprinkling of two colours of mist, onto my background.

You can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: (From the Kit) Echo Park "Go See Explore" patterned papers {Explore the World and 3x4 Journalling Cards} and chipboard elements; PhotoPlay "Boarding Pass" element stickers; Becky Higgins flair; Heidi Swapp stencil.  (From my stash) Tim Holtz faded denim Distress Ink; Tattered Angels sky mist; Heidi Swapp navy Color Shine; misc. thread.

Explore Together | My Creative Scrapbook

Hey there! It is reveal day over at My Creative Scrapbook, and that means I get to share this month's awesome main kit with you, and a layout, too! In fact, I also have a process video for you! I am really enjoying making these videos!

I loved this month's kit travel themed kit, filled with goodies from the Echo Park " Go See Explore" collection and a few goodies from the PhotoPlay "Boarding Pass collection!  It was a super fun kit to play with and as I will share over the course of the month, I created a ton of pages, and used some new and some older photos.

Check out the kit contents.

And this is my first layout share....

This particular photo is so new, that I created with it on the day that I took it!  Outside of December daily, I never do this.  I challenged myself, when creating this page, to use a larger scale photo.  I typically use smaller pics, as you know, so this was a fun test for me.

And while the layout deviates a fair bit from my usual style, I still like the way it turned out.

I combined the chipboard flags with a die cut word to create my title, hanging the chipboard flags from a piece of the rustic twine that was in the kit.

I also incorporated my journaling as a main design element on my page.

I layered up a couple of patterned papers in my background and added some machine stitching for texture. I also like the way that it helps to frame my page. And speaking of framing, I halved a Becky Higgins frame from the kit, to flank and draw even more attention to my photo.

I layered stickers in two areas of my layout, creating clusters and topped this one off with a flair from the kit.

You can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: (From the Kit) Echo Park "Go See Explore" patterned papers {Snap Photos and 4 x 6 Journalling Cards} and chipboard elements; PhotoPlay "Boarding Pass" element stickers; Becky Higgins "Explore" chipboard frames and flair; rustic twine.  (From my stash) American Crafts cardstock; One Canoe Two date stamp; CTMH black ink.

Paddle A While | Stuck?! Sketches

Hey there! I am sharing a new sketch, layout and a process video for Stuck?! Sketches' August 1st challenge today! Here is a look at my sketch:

And this is my take on it, I love the bright colours, the way it turned out and that I used up some stash!

I think my layout ended up slightly more girly than the subject of kayaking warrants, but I had fun using up some feminine stash products!

I pulled in some older Simple Stories embellishments and a few other small items to round out this Fancy Pants collection.

I also fussy cut several flowers from one of the patterned papers to use as more embellishments. It is an easy way to gain a few more embellies!

My journalling talks about how kayaking is a good way to clear my head and while away some time.

I had another title in mind but this one fit the space better, can you tell my second "e" is created by combining an "f" and an "l"?

As a final step I added some splatters of water colour paint.

We have two wonderful sponsors offering prizes this month over at Stuck?! Sketches:

You can see my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Card Set | My Creative Scrapbook

Hey there!  I have a sweet little Card Set to share today using some leftover goodies from the  My Creative Scrapbook July main kit! I am loving this new "tradition" I have started for myself, as a means of busting through the last of my kit. This month I created a set of 4 "punny" and simple minis, that utilize some of my leftover chipboard pieces.

I kept the design identical for all of the cards.

I used my WRMK typewriter to create the sentiments.

I turned to Pinterest for a little help with a couple of the sentiments.

Don't forget to layer those elements!

Supply List: (From the Kit) Simple Stories "Summer Days" chipboard stickers  (From my Stash) Recollections and Staples cardstock; Typecast typewriter.

Summer Treats | My Creative Scrapbook

Hello! I am back sharing another layout and process video for My Creative Scrapbook, I wanted to use a lot of patterns from the kit, in a fun way and decided that a "sunburst" was a perfect way to do that!

The only real trick is to ensure that any patterns that run a specific direction, continue to do so.  In my case it was only the stripes that I needed to be mindful of.

I added some machine stitching on each ray and ruffled up the edges for a bit of dimension.

I combined a cardstock sticker and the alphas from the kit to create my title.

I have been pretty good about adding journalling lately, maybe letting myself embellish it helps to drive me to write!

I added a few more embellishments clusters than usual on this page, I love t he way it looks!

I combined a chipboard star and two fussy cut clouds to draw the eye to the centre of my sunburst. As a finishing touch, I added splatters of white mist.

You can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: (From the Kit) Simple Stories "Summer Days"  patterned paper (so much fun, hello sunshine, beat the heat, soak up the sun, 4 x 6 horizontal elements), chipboard stickers, cardstock stickers, bits and pieces, and 4 x 6 stickers. (From my stash) American Crafts kraft paper; crochet thread; white Mr. Huey's mist; Sharpie; teal Gelly Roller.

Ocean Fun | My Creative Scrapbook

Hey there!

Today I am sharing a bonus layout that I created for My Creative Scrapbook using up some leftover goodies from the July main kit! I had so much fun with this month's kit and couldn't quite bring myself to put it away yet, even though the August kit is also sitting on my desk!

I began with a simple layering of two patterned papers, tearing the striped paper for a bit of fun texture.  The yellow patterned paper is actually pieced together behind my photo, since I didn't have a large enough piece of it.  This is a great way to use up scraps.

This design gives me lots of space for a generous sized embellishment cluster on the right side of my photo and room for a title and journalling, too.

These small alphas were included in the kit, and I used them on many of my pages.  They are the perfect size! I am actually, out of a lot of the letters so I needed to change my title idea a couple of times until I found one that I could work with given my remaining letters.  I was out of "E's" so I layered an "F" over an "L", which worked out great!

I added some fun stitching along the left edge of my patterned papers and then a few embelishments, including ribbon from the kit, to the left of my photo.

A third cluster completes my visual triangle along the bottom right of my page. I couldn't resist using those fun swim shorts!

Final touches include a splatter of white mist over my layout.

Supply List: (From the Kit) Simple Stories "Summer Days" patterned paper (4x6 horizontal elements, hello sunshine and lazy days), card stock stickers, bits and pieces, 4 x 6 stickers, and chipboard; ribbon. (From my stash) Sharpie pen; Mr. Huey's white mist; One Cane Two date stamp; CTMH black ink; American Crafts kraft paper.
