Water Colour Paint Tutorial - Boys Rule Scrapbooking Kits

Hi there!

I have a fun little tip to share with you today, that utilizes my water colour paints and the fun black and white birthday paper from pebbles Inc. that was included in this month's Boys Rule kit.

All you need are a few colours of paint and a brush of some sort, I am really liking my water brush for use with my water colour paints.

I started out by picking three colours of paint that I wanted to work with, by pulling the colours from the patterned paper that I would add to my page later on.

Then I just got busy adding colour to my title first, painting in every third letter....

... and then adding some colour randomly around my page.

I repeated this for all three colours, and went back and added more of each colour wherever I thought I needed it.  With bad eyes and a shaky hand, it is by no means perfect but I love the effect so I am happy with it.

And then I created my page, adding a few simple layers and embellishments.  i did not go too crazy, since this page is pretty busy to begin with.

Product List:  Patterned papers - Jillibean soup and Pebbles; Die cuts - Jillibean soup and Pebbles; Stickers - Jillibean Soup; Washi - Doodlebug Designs; Other - water colour paints, Sharpie marker, Liquid Glass, Tim Holtz Distress Ink.

Climb High - Evalicious

Hi there!

I am sharing a new DT project for Evalicious, documenting a photo of my youngest climbing trees in our yard.  This kid gets so much "happy" from the little things in life, definitely a lesson I should remember more often myself.  Plus he is very accommodating about letting me snap photos while he plays!

I started my page, by just simply swiping on some water colour paint, onto a piece of textured cardstock.  My goal was just to add a layer of a couple of colours as a base for my layers to come.

Once that was dry, with a little help from my heat gun, I added a layer of "pumice stone" grey distress ink with a wood grain mask. I love that shade of grey, it is so warm.

Then I began adding some layers of papers in greens and blues, scraps from two older (okay one is really old) My Mind's Eye lines.  Next I added my photo.

Because I love it so much, the "Field Notes" flair (badge buttons) came next!

Then the "Field Notes" labels and page tabs, I love these for journaling snippets and adding the date to my pages.

The wood accents and puffy stickers came next.

This is the point where I felt I needed some texture and a darker colour to help ground things so I added some random stitching.

I sort of thought I was done and went to do something else, then I glanced at my page and realized that I had omitted a title, duh! I fixed that up super quick with these super awesome puffy alphas in a wood grained look.

And lastly, I stamped and embossed the phrase "LIFE DOCUMENTED" onto the upper left portion of my page, and stamped the camera onto a scrap piece of paper, heat embossed that, added some water colours and fussy cut it out to adorn my page.

Evalicious Product list: (click on the images to be taken to the shop location for these items)

Other products: Patterned paper - My Mind's Eye; Cardstock: American Crafts; Tim Holtz Distress Ink; water colour paints; Tim Holtz wood grain mask; DMC floss; Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher; Versamark ink, Zing white embossing powder; Staedtler pen.

How do you spell love - Boys Rule

Hi there!

I am sharing my latest Boys Rule DT page today.  I do not often do super sized titles, but I was totally feeling it with the latest kit, check it out....

I recently "re-found" this quote on my Pinterest board, where I had pinned it, it seemed perfect for this photos of our youngest and our pup. Mostly because it is true, but also a little tongue in cheek since our pup has always sat right on top of Timmy.  Which was not so bad when he was little but now the pup outweighs the boy, lol!

The kit came with loads of alphas and I had fun using a ton of them to create my title. I love the way the chipboard alphas look tone on tone with this great Bo Bunny paper that I used as my background.

Then I incorporated loads of Jillibean Soup papers and embellishments.

Before I finished my page, I adorned the lower area with die cuts, stitching and Washi tape, then I added some doodling to my entire page.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Punctuation as Embellishments - Tutorial

Hi there!

I am sharing a new tutorial here today, I thought I would share a fun little tip about using up those alphabet sticker punctuations and symbols.  They make really great and coordinated page accents.

Most alpha sheets have lots of small circular elements, like periods and the dots from i's and question marks etc.,  plus lots of great symbols like brackets and @ signs.

I used a lot of the little round period-like elements on this page, much the same way that you might use enamel dots.  I topped them off with some Liquid Glass for a little dimension and impact.

I also like to use ampersands and @ signs for quick and easy accents.

I have shared these pages before, but wanted to note that I have used the punctuation stickers in unique ways.

It is super convenient to have matching stickers to use in this way and the traditional way, plus I feel like I am getting more bang for my buck.

Happy Birthday Timmy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! y youngest turns 12 today - that blows my mind!  He is growing up and maturing so fast lately, I often wonder what happened to the little tiny bubby that arrived at our door all those years ago.
Twelve years ago tomorrow, in fact, I received a phone call early in the morning letting us know that a baby boy would arrive in our home before dinner time.  We were so excited!  Little did we know how he would nestle his way into our hearts, and fill a void we didn't even know existed. After a very long adoption journey, he completed our family and has made us proud every single day since then.

Today we are baking together, he likes a giant chocolate chip cookie in lieu of a cake.  I usually bake a whole batch of cookie dough onto one very large heart shaped pan for him.  So we will make that and Shamrock Floats (recipe here if you are interested) and dad's famous loaded nachos (Timmy's request) for dinner!

I made him this little card, using lots of green in honour of St. Patrick's Day.  He doesn't really play video games, but does play Minecraft on his computer so this super cute image is somewhat fitting.

The stamp is from Your Next Stamp, love boy stamps!

I am playing along with the following  challenges.  I used the sketch. - Green

Happy Birthday - Boys Rule

Hi there!

I am sharing my latest Boys Rule DT page today along with a sketch for a brand new sketch challenge going on over there!

I designed this sketch a little while ago, and knew that it would be just perfect for this month's kit contents!

This is my take on the sketch...

My youngest was born on St. Patrick's day and with it just around the corner we are birthday prep mode here so it seemed like the perfect time to create a page to document one of his past birthday's.  I loved that this kit had some birthday goodies, we haven't seen that in a while, but nothing too over the top and most of it is multi purpose.

I added some enamel dots, floss and paint from my stash to this page.

I just love the fun yet masculine colour combo.

I couldn't resist cutting out a shamrock for my page ;) .

Product list- patterned papers, and some die cuts: Pebbles; stickers and some die cuts: Jillibean Soup; Washi tape: Doodlebug; Enamel dots: MME; Paint: DecorArt; floss: We R Memory Keepers.

Hope to see you over at Boys Rule to play along with this challenge!

Egg Art - Stuck?! Sketches

Hi there!

There is a brand new sketch up at Stuck?! Sketches check it out....

The design team has done an amazing job and our new members have certainly gotten off to a great start!  Pleae be sure to have a look.

This is my take on the sketch, I went for a fun Spring look.

I pulled out a few left over Lawn Fawn papers because I love the colours for my Easter page, then I pulled out some older and coordinating embellishments.  It felt great to bust through some stash items.

I used a Silhouette cut file of joined eggs to represent the circle shape in the sketch.

I had a small bit of these really super old Imaginisce rub ons in my stash, they were so old they were hard to use but super cute and I couldn't just toss them.

My cluster might just be a bit on the wild side but I kind of love it!

I borrowed a bit of ribbon from a friend and added some faux stitching, a technique learned from another friend.

Last but not least, I added some journaling.

I would love to see you link up to the Stuck?! Sketches challenge.

I am playing along with the March challenge at Scrap Our Stash, to use products from the word S-T-E-N-C-I-L, here are my specifics.

S- Silhouette cut file
